Following on
from the great response the books have received from teachers, libraries
and parents, Pete is appearing at Schools, Kindergartens, Festivals,
Functions, Community Centres and Corporate Functions holding workshops
in drawing, based on the book’s characters.**
Pete’s
workshops centre on creating an entertaining, energetic and creative
experience for the children and teachers. Participants take part
in a step-by-step drawing process designed to encourage their own
creativity. They also learn how Pete creates his characters from
the stories. Workshops are tailored to suit different age-groups.
E.g. nursery rhymes for kinder children and character and character
development for older pupils.
An excellent
communicator, with a relaxed manner, Pete can relate to adults and
children alike. He encourages the participants as they discover
their own creativity by ‘giving it a go’.
He has been
well received by school groups in Libraries, and at public appearances
including the ‘Bright ‘n’ Sandy Food and Wine
Festival’ in Brighton, Vic, Kinders and The ‘Gallery
Sunshine Everywhere’ exhibition opening. Children from 2yrs
and adults participated; they had loads of fun and took home their
original drawings. (view some examples below)
A songwriter,
Pete composed ‘Around the World (A Dream May Take You There)’
especially for Albury North Public School in Albury, NSW. The School
based their school production on Bowater/Pascoe’s first two
books: ‘A Pig Called Pete’ & ‘A Cat Called
Kitty’. Depending on the venue/class Pete may incorporate
music in the workshop.
